Veterans Day is just around the corner and you’ve probably already seen commercial advertisements by local and national retailers hoping to cash in on the holiday.

Veterans Day is a U.S. federal holiday observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans who have served in the United States armed forces.  Vets have made sacrifices for this nation—both on and off the battlefield. Many of them are still struggling to adapt to civilian life—dealing with physical and mental health issues, as well as financial challenges. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore has accepted the mission of reaching out to veterans on the educational front and acknowledges the men and women who have answered the call to serve. On this edition of UMES 30, we speak with two people who have answered that call--Dr. Robert Mock, Chief of Staff for the Office of the President here at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and Dr. James Bresette, the Associate Dean for Development and External Relations at the UMES School of Pharmacy and Health Professions where he also holds the rank of Associate Professor.
