MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) — State police say a man was killed after a tow hook came through the windshield of a tractor-trailer that was stuck in a muddy field.

The accident occurred Saturday morning at a farm in Middletown. Police say 66-year-old George Lynam Jr. of Middletown was behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer that was fully loaded with corn. Another man, Robert Baker, was using a farm tractor attached to a grain hopper in an attempt to tow the tractor-trailer out of the mud.

Police say the tow strap snapped off the back of the grain hopper and went through the windshield of the tractor-trailer, striking Lynam in the torso. Lynam was taken to a hospital, where he died. The other driver wasn't injured.
