CHATHAM, Va (AP) – A former masonry worker got the ultimate
revenge after his boss fired him -- he fired up the man's house.
A Pittsylvania County Circuit Court convicted 45-year-old
Randall Lee Stacel yesterday on charges of arson and threatening to
burn a dwelling. Authorities say he torched his boss's nearly
complete new house.
The house would have been worth about 300-thousand dollars when

armed gunman who shot and wounded two people late Sunday night.

GEORGETOWN, De (AP) – Tonight's commencement ceremonies at
Sussex Central High School won't include any scheduled prayers.
Unlike past graduations, the program won't include an invocation
or a benediction. That's because the Indian River School District
is facing a lawsuit brought by two families claiming past
commencements created "an environment of religious exclusion" by
including formal prayers.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va (AP) – A Dumfries man is fighting for is
life in court this morning.
A jury convicted Antwon Gairrio (gay-AHR-eeoh) Whitten this past
Friday in the 2003 robbery and murder of Crystal Michelle Jacobs in
Stafford County.
Jacobs worked at Falmouth post office, housed at Earl's True
Value Hardware store, where authorities say she was found stabbed
some 16 times.
Whitten, who was implicated by DNA, is expected to be
sentenced today. He could get the death penalty.

RICHMOND, Va (AP) – A fiery crash on Interstate 95 has claimed
three lives and left a fourth person in critical condition.
State Police Sergeant Kevin Barrick says it happened about 9:45
this morning a few miles north of Richmond when a northbound 2004
Mercury ran off the left shoulder, hit a bridge abutment and burst
into flames.
He says a man, a woman and a female who might have been in her
teens were killed. Another man was taken to VCU Medical Center
with life-threatening injuries.

SALISBURY, Md (AP) – More information surfaces about the private
school employee accused of sexually abusing a minor.
Forty-year-old Julian "Jay" Benson Shelburne worked part-time
at the Salisbury School, but school officials aren't saying if he
was employed there at the time of the alleged abuse -- which
sheriff's deputies say occurred between January and April.
Shelburne also was a pastor at the Community Christian Church.

SALISBURY, Md (AP) – Federal officials are weighing two
competing requests for the use of the former Social Security
Administration building on East Main Street in Salisbury.
The decision is up to the General Services Administration.
Representatives met yesterday with both parties -- the Wicomico
County school board and the nonprofit Epilepsy Association of the
Eastern Shore.
The school board wants to use the building for its Adult
Learning Center. But the Epilepsy Association wants to use it for
its headquarters.
