Belliard homers in 12th inning to give Nats win

WASHINGTON, DC – (AP) Ronnie Belliard hit a two-run homer in the 12th inning to give the Washington Nationals a 3-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.

The Orioles had taken a 2-1 lead in the top of the 12th on Adam Jones' single, and George Sherrill (2-3) retired the first two Nationals batters in the bottom half.

But Dmitri Young, Washington's last position player available, walked as a pinch-hitter. Then Belliard drove a 1-2 pitch for his 6th homer of the year into the left-field stands. Belliard's hit snapped an 0-for-13 slump.
