Nationals beat Dodgers 6-2, lose Harper

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jordan Zimmermann won his NL and major league-leading seventh game, Ryan Zimmerman drove in three runs and the Washington Nationals defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 on Monday night after losing Bryce Harper in a violent collision with the wall in right field.

Zimmermann (7-1) allowed nine hits and two runs in 7 2-3 innings.

Rangers beat Caps 5-0 in Game 7 to reach 2nd round

WASHINGTON (AP) — Led by Henrik Lundqvist's 35 saves in a second consecutive shutout, and goals from some unlikely sources, the New York Rangers beat the Washington Capitals 5-0 in Game 7 Monday night to reach the Eastern Conference semifinals.

New York contained Alex Ovechkin again and completed its comeback after trailing in the series 2-0 and 3-2 — the latest in Washington's long history of playoff collapses.

Sixth-seeded New York faces No. 4 Boston in the second round.

It is the first time New York won a Game 7 on the road in its history.

Nationals beat Tigers 5-4 for 2-game sweep

WASHINGTON (AP) — Ryan Mattheus, Drew Storen and Rafael Soriano combined for shutout relief after Dan Haren nearly squandered a four-run lead, and the Washington Nationals beat the Detroit Tigers 5-4 Thursday to complete a two-game sweep of the AL champions.

Adam LaRoche singled in the first and second innings for his first consecutive multihit games this season, helping the Nationals to their first four-game winning streak of the year. Ryan Zimmerman, in a 2-for-14 slide coming in, had three hits.
