EEOC files lawsuit against Virginia-based company

BALTIMORE (AP) — The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a federal discrimination lawsuit against a Virginia-based company.

The commission announced the lawsuit Monday against Performance Food Group Inc. The company did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

The commission alleges the company engaged in an ongoing pattern of refusing to hire women for positions at the company's distribution facilities. The lawsuit says the positions included such jobs as drivers, forklift operators, mechanics, transportation supervisors and warehouse supervisors.

Woman dead, man injured after Delaware crash

MILFORD, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police say a woman is dead and a man is injured after a Jeep Cherokee crashed in Milford.

Police say 39-year-old Melissa Perez failed to negotiate a curve in a Jeep Cherokee on Cedar Beach Road on Sunday afternoon and the vehicle traveled 600 or more feet through a soybean field, hit utility pole and overturned.

Melissa Perez of Wyoming, Del., was pronounced dead at the scene and her passenger, 30-year-old James Perez of Dover was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Health Overhaul-Medicaid Panel

Va. Medicaid commission meets for first time

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The state panel responsible for verifying that a series of daunting reforms to Medicaid have been met as a condition for expanding access to the federal-state health care program meets for the first time.

The Medicaid Innovation and Reform Commission gathers Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. on Capitol Square.
