RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Those who purchase the Blu-Ray version of Lincoln will get a little something extra: a pitch to visit Virginia.
The 3-minute mini-documentary will feature director Steven Spielberg and other key players involved in the production of the movie describing their impressions of the region and why they chose to film the movie in Virginia.
The movie was filmed entirely in Virginia in 2011.
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The creator of "The Waltons" television series has been honored by the Virginia Senate.
Earl Hamner Jr. received a framed copy of a resolution recognizing his literary and TV achievements Wednesday at the General Assembly's one-day reconvened session.
Hamner's novel "Spencer's Mountain," inspired by his experiences growing up in the foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains during the Great Depression, was the basis for "The Waltons." Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling said the show became "a piece of Americana."
- UMES residence director Clifton H. Harcum is headed to Washington in June, where he will represent Delmarva as the region’s nominee for a prestigious national honor that celebrates altruistic Americans.
A panel of judges working with WBOC-TV, the Salisbury television station that sponsors the Jefferson Awards for Public Service, selected Harcum over nine other nominees. He learned of the honor during a ceremony at TV station held during spring break.
