PRINCESS ANNE, Md.--Students at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore are traveling to the Baltimore Comic-Con this month for a chance to exhibit and sell their "funny book" art.

The two-day comic book fan convention is being held on Aug. 28-29 at the Baltimore Convention Center in the Inner Harbor.

"Students are able to network with editors and other professionals in the field," said UMES Fine Arts Instructor Brad Hudson, who teaches comic book illustration, also known as Sequential Arts, at the university.

The legendary Art Shell, pro football Hall of Famer and University of Maryland Eastern Shore alumnus, returns to the Shore on June 15 and 16 to host other NFL greats and area golfers during the Art Shell UMES Celebrity Golf Classic to benefit student scholarships for the university's PGA Golf Management program.

PRINCESS ANNE, MD-Ernest Satchell, professor and chair of the Department of Fine Arts and an alumnus from the Class of '63, and his wife Elsa Satchell, library technician III in special collections at the Frederick Douglass Library, both at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, recently made a $10,000 contribution to a fund for the visual arts.

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Office of Student Activities and Residence Life and the University of Maryland is partnering with The Blood Bank of Delmarva to hold a blood drive on Thursday, December 3, in the Student Services Center ballroom.

Every two seconds someone in America needs blood. This ongoing need is felt by area hospitals and patients.

Over the past few days, members of the blood drive team have been asking students and faculty to donate blood.
