AAA: 100K Del. residents to hit road over holiday
DOVER, Del. (AP) — About the same number of Delaware residents will leave home this Memorial Day weekend as did last year.
AAA Mid-Atlantic predicts about 100,000 people in Delaware will travel 50 miles or more between Thursday and Monday.
Meanwhile, Delaware is also expecting to receive many visitors.
Carol Everhart, president of the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce, says Delaware cities are prepared to host many Washington-area vacationers. Everhart says she has already seen an increase in property rentals and requests for travel information.
The auto club says about 35 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more during the holiday weekend, an increase of about 500,000 travelers from a year ago.
